Celebrating Women: International Women’s Day
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we interviewed one of our most industrious women on the Kenyan team, Eunice Vikatsi. Enjoy this engaging session below.
– Tell us a bit about yourself and your current role
My name is Eunice Vikatsi, a supermom of 2 children, a boy and a girl.
As a product discovery associate at MarketForce Kenya, I focus on the pains and needs of our users. I do user research, train internal and external users in addition to customer service.
I’m a quick learner, which helps to follow up on the new updates of products and features released by the company as required by my role. I research and rely on customers’ feedback to identify the issues that they face and ensure that we provide an excellent customer experience, as well as increase sales.
– You are very obsessed with Merchants here at MarketForce, What is your secret sauce?
My secret sauce? I’m so passionate about helping merchants find solutions that meet their needs. I enjoy showing our customers how to use our application and become more efficient. I use my interpersonal skills to build strong customer relationships by listening carefully to their concerns and responding with empathy, always striving to ensure that they leave with a positive impression of MarketForce. I often take my time to explain our products and services in detail so that customers can make an informed decision. I love to share our products on WhatsApp to facilitate instant engagement.
– Could you share some challenges women merchants go through?
Delivery inconsistency, juggling work and home responsibilities, stock unavailability, financial constraints, lack of technical know-how, exposure to fraud, and fear of failure are part of the many challenges women in the retail business have to deal with.
– What solutions does MarketForce have that enable Women Merchants weather the business storms?
To help with some of their challenges, MarketForce offers the Buy Now Pay Later option to merchants where they’ll continue having stock even if they run out of cash. We currently train merchants on how to use the product through our agents and CX team. The team ensures they receive high support whenever they have issues with the App or fulfillment. In addition, we cater to merchants without smartphones or out of internet coverage area, with the USSD option.
– How should women support other women in their businesses?
By educating and offering information to each other e.g, how to buy and market goods online. If every woman becomes tech literate, they’ll be able to operate online platforms and do business with apps like Rejareja. Women should empower each other by sharing knowledge on how to achieve goals and chase their dreams. By sharing their story of inspiration, successful women can motivate and model younger and new generations of women.
– As we commemorate International Women’s Day, who inspires you, and what will be the words of Wisdom/Parting shot?
I’m inspired by my fellow women here at MarketForce. Their determination and hard work, to ensure our company achieves its goal, is second to none.
Words of wisdom? Believe in yourself and negotiate for yourself.
